GENERAL RULES.


  1. The purpose of the club is to cultivate social feeling, promoting the principles of fair angling in a friendly atmosphere and to protect the clubs waters and habitat. The club is formed and is called “Crown Angling Club”. Meetings are to be held, as the Committee require.
  2. Membership of the club shall be limited to a maximum number of fee-paying members (100), which provides the financial income level set by the Committee. The paying membership categories shall be Adult (16+), Family (2 Adults & 2 Juniors), Junior, Senior Citizen, . (Proof of OAP, student status to be provided). Plus, Night Fishing Permit. Membership fees (Including permits and guest tickets) to be set at each AGM. Membership will run from May 1st to April 30th each year with fees due on or before May the 1st. Previous members will be given a chance to renew their subscriptions before new membership applications as long as the renewal fees are paid before May 1st each year.
  3. That all business be conducted by a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Match Secretary, Head Bailiff, Assistant Bailiff, and two additional committee members. The above officers will hereby be known as the Committee. The Committee reserve the right to elect and dismiss any member into, and out of the Committee as required without prior approval from the club’s members. The Committee is up for renewal each year. The previous committee may re stand as long as the members at the AGM vote them in. The Chairman holds the casting vote in all decisions made. No one under the age of 16 years can stand as a committee member. The Committee must comprise of a cross section of members interests. Only members of over 1-year consecutive standing with a clean club discipline record are eligible to stand as committee members.
  4. Notice of motion for discussion at the AGM must reach the Secretary by the 10th of March. An extraordinary General Meeting may be called at the discretion of the Committee or by 25% of the members, giving notice to the Secretary or Chairman in writing. Fourteen days notice of an AGM must be given in writing to ALL
  5. All fish and other property in, on, or around the Club Waters belong to the Club and are controlled by the Committee. Additions and alterations to the club’s property can be changed without prior consultation of the members as required by the Committee.
  6. Members and guests booking tickets to events must pay in advance. No refunds will be given after one week prior to the event.
  7. All Membership Cards shall bear a serial number.
  8. No closed season exists on any of the Clubs waters. This rule is subject to change as matters arise as long as the Committee displays the changes on club waters and gives the members written notice within 14 days.
  9. The Committee reserves the right to refuse, enlist or terminate membership. New members must be sponsored by an existing member of over 1-year consecutive standing.
  10. When on Club Waters, members / guests are forbidden to carry guns, cross bows, bows, arrows, snares, traps, rabbit nets or take dogs on to any of the Clubs Waters unless written prior permission is sought from the committee.
  11. Banks must not be dug in to and vegetation must not be disturbed unless it is undertaken as part of a working party approved by the Committee.
  12. Members & guests must not damage, destroy or climb trees or other plants and vegetation.
  13. All members have the right to challenge persons fishing, for the purpose of checking their membership, and enforcement of club general rules and by-laws.
  14. All members and guests must carry their membership cards at all times when on Club Waters. Failure to do so will result in the member being asked to leave the water. Any member has the right to challenge any other person for their membership card. Memberships are not transferable.
  15. Every member or guest fishing the club’s waters shall show the contents of his/her tackle or rigs if requested to do so by a Member of the Committee.
  16. All Members and guests shall be in possession of a current EA Rod Licence for all rods being used when fishing Club Waters.
  17. Any Member or guest making Him/Herself a nuisance to other anglers or by breaking club rules or fishery rules will be requested to leave the Clubs Waters. They may be asked to appear before the next Committee meeting. Failure to appear without good cause will result in the member’s dismissal. Subscriptions of dismissed members are forfeit.
  18. No fish shall be killed, removed or added to or from any Club water except for purposes authorised in writing by the Committee.
  19. No cars, motorcycles, cycles or any other vehicles are allowed down the entrance to any Club Water except where parking is provided. All vehicles are to be parked so that entrances and tracks are kept clear from obstruction. At Joyce's Chase, no vehicles are to be parked on the bankside when closed in wet weather.
  20. Members must state their date of birth when joining the club.
  21. Only official Club Match fixtures are to be fished on Club waters unless applied for in writing from the committee.
  22. Club rules may be created, amended or deleted by the Committee at any time provided that a notice is posted on the entrance to all waters where the rule applies. Any rules changed or created in this way are subject to ratification at the next AGM.
  23. The Committee reserve the right to impose punishment in the form of warnings, time banns, dismissal or expulsion of any club member found breaking Club Rules or Fishery Rules.
  24. Entrance to all Club Waters is only to be gained via approved entry / exit points. No scaling of or ducking under fencing / gates.





FISHERY RULES.



  1. BARBLESS HOOKS ONLY ON ALL CLUB WATERS.
  2. “Bent” type hooks are banned on all Club Waters.
  3. No fish of any kind are to be kept in Carp sacks or any other holding device such as a cradel on all Club Waters.
  4. No keep nets to be used between March 1st and June 16th except for use in official Club Match fixtures.
  5. All members / guests must be in possession of a suitably sized assembled landing net when fishing Club Waters. Minimum 36” net suggested when carp fishing.
  6. All members / guests must be in possession of an unhooking mat when fishing Club Waters.
  7. The entrance gate to the lake is to be kept shut at all times.
  8. Members / guests under the age of 14 are to be accompanied by an adult over the age of 16 at all times.
  9. On days of match fixtures fishing is not allowed after midnight of the previous day until the start of the match. During match times, only entrants may fish. After the end of the weigh in any member may fish.
  10. Any Member / guest apprehended whilst leaving a swim in which litter is left, whether it is theirs or not will be liable for suspension.
  11. All litter must be taken home with the angler. The Club provides no official bins, and no litter is to be left in any container on club waters.
  12. The carrying on to, or use of any glass vessel, metal container or tin can is prohibited on club waters.
  13. All watercraft accept bait boats are banned from Club Waters unless on official Club business approved by the committee.
  14. All shelters including bivvies and umbrellas are to be erected such that other anglers can pass without hindrance.

  15. Fishing is allowed from the marked disabled swims. However if a disabled member / guest arrives and wishes to fish the swim it must be vacated in order for that member / guest to fish.
  16. No more than 2 kg. Of ground bait / loose feed to be used in any one session.
  17. Boilies are to be used in moderation.
  18. Pre  baiting is NOT permitted.
  19. Radios, Tape players, Record players, MD players, CD players, DVD players, MP3 players and Televisions must be used with headphones and in such a way that annoyance is not caused to any other member / guest.
  20. No more than 2 rods are to be used at any time. For exception see rule 21.
  21. If fishing with more than 2 rods the third rod must be removed on arrival of the fourth angler. No more than 3 rods can be used at any one time. Also see rule 24.
  22. No baited rods to be left unattended on any Club Water.
  23. Guest tickets are available from the secretary and must be purchased in advance. Members purchasing guest tickets are allowed the first two tickets at half price. Guests fishing on a guest permit must be in company with the member named on the guest ticket at all times. Guest tickets are not transferable. Guest tickets can only be purchased by members for their guests.
  24. When fishing with more than one rod and line at the same time, rods must be placed that the distance between the butts of the end rods does not exceed three metres.
  25. No tackle is to be left unattended at any time by any angler in an attempt to save any swim on any Club water. All tackle is to be removed by the angler at the end of the session without exception.
  26. No hooks, weights, line or any other tackle to be left by any angler at any time. All such items are to be removed from Club Waters and disposed of in a safe manner.
  27. No wild foul is to be disturbed in any way. Anglers must take action to prevent wildlife becoming entangled with line.
  28. Any distressed wildlife or fish are to be reported to the RSPCA or Environment Agency.
  29. Fishing is only allowed in designated swims. FISHING FROM THE FAR END BANK OF GATEHOUSE LAKE IS PROHIBITED.
  30. Swims are allocated on a first come first served basis. However, if a member / guest’s bait is cast or placed in any swim other than where their tackle is set up, they must move their bait away from that swim in order for another member / guest to fish in the swim in question.
  31. All other EA rules and byelaws must be observed copies of which are available from the secretary or Environment Agency.
  32. No open fires or barbeques unless authorised in writing by the committee.
  33. THE CONSUMPTION OF ANY ALCOHOL OR DRUGS IS PROHIBITED ON CLUB WATERS.
  34. Any member who wishes to fish at night (dusk until dawn) must purchase a night fishing permit.
  35. No wading is allowed at any time on Club waters except for that of official Club business approved in writing by the committee.
  36. All gates are to be locked secure by the last angler to leave club waters.
  37. Any complaints must be directed to the club secretary within 7 days of the occurrence or complaint.
  38. All nets must conform to EA byelaws.
  39. Braid as a main line is prohibited.
  40. No guests allowed to fish at Joyce’s Chase.
  41. The Committee reserve the right to close waters when need arises such as times of spawning or fish stress.




Match Rules.


  1. Published matches are subject to change by giving 14 day’s notice, and are to be displayed on the Club Waters notice board on the water the match, or change applies to.
  2. A match fee applies to all matches as set by the Committee.
  3. An optional pool applies at a fee set by the Committee. All pool fees will be returned in prize money divided between 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the top 3 weights caught. The rate of dividend will be set by the Match Secretary / Assistant. To be eligible for pool money competitors must participate for the entire match.
  4. No lines to be cast prior to the start of the match except for plumbing depth.
  5. A maximum of 2 kg of ground bait to be used on each match unless otherwise stated.
  6. Ground bait or loose feed may not be cast in prior to the start of the match.
  7. The sounding of a whistle will signal the start & finish of a match.
  8. An extra 15 minutes will be allowed to land a fish if a competitor has one on his line at the sounding of the end whistle. Competitors must announce “Fish On” if this is the case. If the fish is not landed in this time the fish will not count.
  9. No assistance from any other angler is allowed to land a fish except if cleared by the Match Secretary / Assistant.
  10. Fish to be kept in approved keep nets only. (silver fish / carp)
  11. Matches will be of pegged down nature unless otherwise stated. The drawn swim will be as follows. 1 metre upstream and 1 metre downstream from the open outside edge of the swim, out to the centre line of the water fished.
  12. One rod / pole and line only. Extra rods are allowed to be set up ready to be used. Extra rods must be stored behind the competitor
  13. All fish to be weighed in at the competitor’s swim.
  14. Matches are open to non-members if the appropriate day ticket / permit fees are paid however members take precedence.
  15. No live / dead baiting or lures of any kind.
  16. All competitors are restricted to one draw except in exceptional circumstances.
  17. The Match Secretary / Assistant reserve the right to refuse entry.
  18. Any complaints are to be brought to the attention of the Match Secretary / Assistant within one hour before the end of the match.
  19. Dead fish will not be weighed in.
  20. If any litter exists at a competitors peg their catch will not be weighed in.
  21. In roaming matches only one angler is allowed per swim. Once a swim has been chosen the competitor must stay in his / her chosen swim.
  22. In roaming matches a draw will take place to determine the order of setting off.
  23. Points will be awarded as set by the Match secretary at the AGM.
  24. All other club rules are to be obeyed.
  25. Only official matches are to take place unless prior written permission is obtained from the committee.
  26. If any of the match / Club rules are broken then a penalty in points or disqualification will follow. In more serious cases see General Rule 17 & 23.
  27. Only fish caught in matches are eligible for match trophies.
  28. The Match Secretary / Assistants decision is final in all cases.
